Polio is caused by a virus that spreads easily from person to person. It usually spreads through contact with the poo of an infected person. For example, from not washing your hands properly and putting them in your mouth, or from contaminated food or water.

Monkeypox is a potentially serious viral illness that typically involves flu-like symptoms, swelling of the lymph nodes and a rash that includes bumps that are initially filled with fluid before scabbing over. Illness could be confused with a sexually transmitted infection like syphilis or herpes, or with chickenpox.

Covid 19 Hospital Activity

The Covid 19 Hospital Activity records provide a week-by-week record of patients admitted to hospital from the community and care homes with Covid, the number of inpatients who tested positive for Covid 19, the number of beds supported by mechanical ventilation that are occupied by Covid patients and the number of inpatient deaths. The data is published daily by Public Health England, I am duplicating the data published from each Wednesday to indicate the trajectory of Covid 19 Hospital Activity.
