Practical Guidance on HR Essentials for Managers of People
Provides you with guaranteed ways to protect your business from common mistakes which lead to employment tribunals
If you are struggling with managing your people then you’ll love my HR Essentials event as it focuses on the key issues you might face as a manager of people and provides practical tips to give you the confidence to deal with day to day HR issues and avoid common mistakes which regularly lead to Employment Tribunals.
If you are a new business, taking on your first employees then my HR Essentials event will help you introduce the right policies in to your business and ensure they are fair and legally compliant.
Programme Overview
- The Legal Framework
We will begin with an overview of how employment rights accrue in the UK and the importance of your employment contract.
- Getting It Right From The Start
It all starts with knowing what you want people to do and how they will fit in to your team. Good recruitment practices will save you time and money and help make sure you have the right people on your team.
- Getting The Best From Your Employees
Clearly setting out duties, goals and performance standards for your employee to achieve.
- Time off from Work
All employees have a statutory right to time off work in certain circumstances such as holidays and maternity leave but some employees will be absent from work unexpectedly and these are the ones that cause the most disruption to your business. During the training we will consider best practice techniques for minimising absence and dealing fairly and effectively with requests for statutory rights to time of work.
- What To Do If Things Go Wrong
Dealing with grievances or disciplinary matters in the correct way is essential in order to resolve matters as quickly and amicably as possible and to avoid claims for unfair and constructive dismissal.
- Terminating The Relationship
Some employees will chose to leave, if the recruitment process is working right these will be reduced to a minimum, but there may be situations that arise where you need to ‘exit’ individuals from your organisation and these must be managed in the right way.
Delegate Toolkit
Each delegate will receive a Toolkit containing practical guidance on good employment practices. It will help you to understand and implement the tools you have learnt and contains a comprehensive range of support materials such as model policies, flowcharts, checklists, example letters and forms to ensure your delivery is legally compliant.
